PROTECT YOUR TREES FROM INVASIVE INSECTS WITH ARBORJET TREE INJECTIONS

PROTECT YOUR TREES FROM INVASIVE INSECTS WITH ARBORJET TREE INJECTIONS

The emergence of spring welcomes many hungry insects, out from hibernation or hatching in hoards.

Dormant Pruning, what it is and why it is so important…

You may dread the thought of late fall and winter elements, but for your trees and shrubs, it’s the moment they’ve been waiting for all year!

So, how can you deter your local deer from your property and reduce their damage?

In other words how do we close down the ‘Bambi Salad Bar’?

These caterpillars, moths, beetles and other pests take to your plants, breeding nests in your branches, eating up your leaves, and oftentimes, slowly killing your towering trees.

Your trees took years and years to grow so tall and mighty, and the last thing you need is Gypsy Moths or Wooly Adelgids sucking the life out of them. Not only can ripping out an old tree be time-consuming and costly, but finding a replacement can be just as troubling or not possible at all.

Save your prized oak or hemlock from these invasive pests with Arborjet tree injection.

How Do Tree Injections Work?

Tree injections can sound a lot more intrusive than they really are. In fact, these injections are often easier on your plants and safer on your surroundings than traditional pesticides. Here’s how our Arborjet tree injection process works:

1. We identify the pest(s) & prepare a solution.

Formulas are mixed or chosen based on your property’s unique needs. For example, a tree that’s often attacked by Emerald Ash Borer beetles would require a mix of two emamectin benzoate products. This is something your “every day” fertilization company might not know and spraying a generic pesticide could kill all insect life, including your lovely butterflies and bees. A trained injection specialist can concoct a contained solution for your specific pest problem, in the right dosage for your particular tree.

2. Formulas are safely injected.

We carefully drill a hole into the side of your tree and insert an Arborplug for injecting our solutions. This sealed injection method delivers the protective mix directly to the tree’s transport tissue, ensuring the dose is rapidly rushed to the target area without harming the tree.

It also keeps our solutions contained, without exposing nearby rivers, ponds, parks or playgrounds to harmful sprays of pesticide. In this way, we eliminate environmental exposure, keeping your community and your family safe. Even if your root system extends into the water, these injections only spread throughout the tree and do not contaminate its surroundings. In fact on Arbor Day last year which was a Saturday, we injected trees at the stage in the Waterfront Park in Newburyport with a park full of people so we could demonstrate the safety of the system.

3. Your tree flourishes!

After your tree injection, your plant will deter harmful insects— and Arborjet’s got the scientific research to prove it! Not only will the solutions keep the pests away from your trees (and family), but it’ll allow for your plant to recover and grow stronger.

We can also inject micro-nutrients around the drip-line of your tree or shrub’s fibrous roots—known as deep root fertilization— to help any tree that was previously attacked to come back strong.

What Kinds of Threats Do Tree Injections Ward Against?

In Massachusetts, we have very specific insect and bacterial pests that wreak havoc on our trees and shrubs.

Here’s are just a few types of threats our Arborjet injections can safeguard against:

  1. Emerald Ash Borer. This invasive, wood-boring pest is a small, green metallic beetle who lays larvae inside the bark of your white or green ash tree. Because they feed on your tree from the inside, they can go unnoticed for several years and take down even the largest of ashes. This pest has been verified in Boxford recently, they will continue to spread. The Newburyport area is loaded with Ash trees and the city of Newburyport has actively been treating any on the city properties.
  2. Gypsy Moth. This invasive species chows down on many tree species, but hungry caterpillars will feed on almost any type of tree or shrub you have! They destroy their foliage and cause stress to your trees’ vascular systems. It’ll refoliate after the frenzy, but oftentimes this uses up all the tree’s reserved energy and it becomes weakened and vulnerable to other threats. The devastation of these pests is visible by taking a ride down Rt 133 in Rowley, large numbers of oak trees have died due to repeated defoliation over the past few years.
  3. Hemlock Woolly Adelgid. A tiny, tick-like insect, the Hemlock Woolly sucks on the sap of eastern hemlocks and often found that the base of its needles. They grow in fuzzy white ovisacs, giving them their name. Left untreated, these pests can overtake and kill your hemlock. These nasty buggers (pun intended!) can be found throughout our area.
